Daystar was released on September 25, 2020, his first full project on his own One Umbrella label after leaving Interscope earlier that year. Daystar is also his given name. It was recorded in 2020, runs 17 tracks and about 66 minutes, and its only guest is Yoko Gold.
It came out during a difficult year, after the July 2020 shooting allegations, and several songs address that situation directly. It debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 with 36,000 units, No. 6 in Canada and No. 3 on the Independent Albums chart. He followed it with the mixtapes Loner in December 2020 and Playboy in March 2021.
